Avoid Akkon unless you like Tesco Value It is the perfect trap. Nice cozy inside, good decoration, cheap beer, fairly priced mains, free wi-fi (time limited), reduced menu (not pages and pages and pages). First of all, none of the main dishes come with a side. Well, they actually come with a light salad, but you are offered sides. My fault here, rookies mistake. Next, staff don't speak English. Not their fault really but make things much more harder. The climax: The sides. The steamed vegetables, straight from the frozen bag. What really brings this place to the top of my hall of shame is the tartar sauce. I ordered tartar sauce, and I got a decent portion. When I put on my food and taste it, it gives me the all familiar taste of, wait for it, mayonnaise. So I complained I got the wrong sauce. The staff make clear that I have ordered tartar sauce. And I said, yes I know that, but the sauce tastes like mayo. Not only me but my date also thought the exact same thing. Couple of failed translations later it transpired that yes, in fact that is the restaurants tartar sauce and I said Ok, so be it. It appeared that the kitchen was a bit offended by my insinuation that they are not serving proper tartar sauce, so they send the jar with the all familiar red-white-and-blue Tesco Value Tartar Sauce. And then I laugh out loud, it all makes sense. No wonder the tartar sauce tastes like mayonnaise. Sorry Tesco guys, but you value tartar sauce tastes like cheap mayo. So beware of the perfect trap a.k.a Akkon restaurant of Bratislava. Something in my gut tells me everything else also comes from the cheapest food brand possible. Anyone cares to find out?
